My apartment came equipped with built in night lights for the ceiling florescent lighting. With my regular safe light busted over a month ago I decided to give the yellow bulb a test run with a 4x6 Fujifilm piece of paper so I get back to the habit of weekend print runs. The 4x6 piece came out just find with the yellow bulb on so onto 8x10 I went. Next up was the same type of paper but only larger, 8x10.

As you can see above, the Fujibro WP FM3 8x10 came out a little over exposed but the sides appear find. White as far as I can tell. So onward to my Ilford.

This is where the problem became evident. The orange bulb had totally overexposed the more delicate multigrade non-gloss, matte paper. (I love glossy for its sharp contrast compared to matte but I have over 200 sheets of this fast drying matte paper that I hope to use before the end of the year)

A quick run to a local hardware store I was able to purchase a fitting 5 watt red bulb as a short cut solution that I hoped would work for my limited printing at the moment.

Success! The ¥120 ($1.35) bulb did the trick and the prints came out fine as far as my limited test could tell. I'll have to do further research, like a safe light exposure test, to see how well the Ilford is reacting to the cheap red bulb. But as of right now it is looking promising for some more printing.
